BON SCOTT's Birthplace To Pay Tribute To Late AC/DC Singer
October 17, 2010According to The Scotsman, this year's Bonfest — the annual event to pay homage to, and to raise awareness of, Kirriemuir, Scotland-born Bon Scott of AC/DC fame — will be held on October 30 in Kirriemuir and will feature a number of local bands playing gigs in the town's bars and the day will culminate in a concert at the town hall headlined by an AC/DC tribute band from Fife called BON'S BALLS.
Since 2006, Kirriemuir has hosted a music festival as a tribute to the singer, who died in 1980 at the age of 33.
According to Press & Journal, the event was started in 2006 by local community group DD8 Music to coincide with the unveiling of a commemorative stone to Scott in the town center.
The festival has been held every May Day weekend since and has attracted hundreds of rock fans from across the country.
